In addition to moneys received by the Foundation from the IOLTA program, the Foundation, as a charitable 501(c)(3) corporation, can accept tax exempt donations from individuals and entities as well as from government grants.  Those types of donations are maintained in a separate non-IOLTA Foundation account.  While such moneys may be used for the same purposes as IOLTA, the Foundation may use non-IOLTA money for purposes that are broader than those specified in the Supreme Court’s rules but not beyond the permissible purposes set forth in the Foundation’s charter.
